Pallets are basically wooden or metallic pieces holding the materials. They have a variable number of faces and entries. Pallets are normally used along with forklifts, trucks and the number of entries refers to the way in which the forms can enter. The design of pallet depends upon the size or package, material to be handled, weight to be endured by the pallet, type, layout, available space and capacity of handling equipment. It is preferable to standardise the size of pallets. Storage patterns of pallets are generally of three types – block, brick and pin wheel.
